Unit 1: Future Tense -(으)ㄹ 거예요

Welcome to Level 2 of Easy Korean! Let's start by learning how to talk about the future.

To say you "will" do something or "are going to" do something, we use the structure -(으)ㄹ 거예요.

Rules

1. Verb stems ending with a vowel: Add -ㄹ 거예요.
2. 가다 (to go) -> 갈 거예요 (I will go)

3. 보다 (to see) -> 볼 거예요 (I will see)

4. Verb stems ending with a consonant: Add -을 거예요.

5. 먹다 (to eat) -> 먹을 거예요 (I will eat)

6. 읽다 (to read) -> 읽을 거예요 (I will read)

7. Verb stems ending with the consonant ㄹ: Just add -거예요.

8. 놀다 (to play/hang out) -> 놀 거예요 (I will play)
9. 팔다 (to sell) -> 팔 거예요 (I will sell)

• 내일 뭐 할 거예요? (What will you do tomorrow?)
• 한국어를 공부할 거예요. (I am going to study Korean.)
