Unit 23: Or (-(이)λ‚˜)

In Easy Korean, when you want to link two nouns with "or" (giving a choice), you use the particle -(이)λ‚˜.

Rules

  • Nouns ending in a vowel: Add -λ‚˜
  • μ»€ν”Όλ‚˜ λ…Ήμ°¨ (Coffee or green tea)
  • λ²„μŠ€λ‚˜ νƒμ‹œ (Bus or taxi)
  • Nouns ending in a consonant: Add -μ΄λ‚˜
  • λ¬Όμ΄λ‚˜ 주슀 (Water or juice)
  • λ°₯μ΄λ‚˜ λΉ΅ (Rice or bread)

How to use it in a sentence

You just attach it to the first noun. - 아침에 λΉ΅μ΄λ‚˜ λ°₯을 λ¨Ήμ–΄μš”. (In the morning, I eat bread or rice.) - 주말에 ν† μš”μΌμ΄λ‚˜ μΌμš”μΌμ— λ§Œλ‚˜μš”. (Let's meet on the weekend, on Saturday or Sunday.)

Note: -(이)λ‚˜ can only be used to connect nouns. Connecting verbs with "or" uses a different grammar structure (-κ±°λ‚˜).
