Easy Korean - Unit 16: Much more / ν¨μ¬
Easy Korean Level 4 - Unit 16: Much more / ν¨μ¬
In Level 2, we learned how to say "more" (λ) and how to compare things using "than" (~보λ€).
In this lesson, we will learn how to emphasize comparisons by saying "much more."
The word for "much" (when comparing) is ν¨μ¬.
1. Using ν¨μ¬ with adjectives
When you want to say something is "much [adjective]," you put ν¨μ¬ before the adjective.
- λΉμΈμ. (It is expensive.)
- λ λΉμΈμ. (It is more expensive.)
-
ν¨μ¬ λΉμΈμ. (It is much more expensive.)
-
μλ»μ. (It is pretty.)
- ν¨μ¬ μλ»μ. (It is much prettier.)
2. Using ν¨μ¬ with ~λ³΄λ€ (than)
You can use ν¨μ¬ together with ~λ³΄λ€ to say "much more [adjective] than [noun]."
-
μ΄μ λ³΄λ€ ν¨μ¬ μΆμμ. (It is much colder than yesterday.)
-
μ΄κ²λ³΄λ€ μ κ²μ΄ ν¨μ¬ μ’μμ. (That one is much better than this one.)
-
νκ΅μ΄ λμ΄μ°κΈ°λ μκ°λ³΄λ€ ν¨μ¬ μ΄λ €μμ. (Korean spacing is much more difficult than I thought.)
Summary
- λ = more
- ν¨μ¬ = much (more)
- ν¨μ¬ λ = much more (You can use them together for extra emphasis!)
- ν¨μ¬ λ λ§μμ΄μ. (It's much more delicious.)
