Unit 24: I Thought / I Didn't Know

How do you say "I thought it was raining" or "I didn't know you were here" in Easy Korean? You use -(으)γ„΄/λŠ”/(으)γ„Ή 쀄 μ•Œλ‹€ (I thought/knew) or λͺ¨λ₯΄λ‹€ (I didn't know).

Structure

This is usually used in the past tense at the end (μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš” / λͺ°λžμ–΄μš”). 1. Present Action: -λŠ” 쀄 μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš”/λͺ°λžμ–΄μš” - λΉ„κ°€ μ˜€λ‹€ -> λΉ„κ°€ μ˜€λŠ” 쀄 μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš”. (I thought it was raining.) 2. Present State (Adjectives): -(으)γ„΄ 쀄 μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš”/λͺ°λžμ–΄μš” - λΉ„μ‹Έλ‹€ -> λΉ„μ‹Ό 쀄 λͺ°λžμ–΄μš”. (I didn't know it was expensive.) 3. Future / Assumption: -(으)γ„Ή 쀄 μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš”/λͺ°λžμ–΄μš” - μ˜€λ‹€ -> 올 쀄 λͺ°λžμ–΄μš”. (I didn't know you would come.)

Examples

  • 였늘 μ‰¬λŠ” 날인 쀄 μ•Œμ•˜μ–΄μš”. (I thought today was a day off. Noun + 인 쀄)
  • ν•œκ΅μ–΄κ°€ μ΄λ ‡κ²Œ μ–΄λ €μšΈ 쀄 λͺ°λžμ–΄μš”. (I didn't know Korean would be this difficult.)
