We learned Noun + -(으)로써 (By means of [Noun]). If you want to use a verb, saying "By doing [Action], I achieved [Result]," you use -(으)ㅁ으로써 in Easy Korean.

Structure

Verb Stem + -(으)ㅁ으로써

• 노력하다 -> 노력함으로써 (By means of making an effort)
• 읽다 -> 읽음으로써 (By means of reading)
• 살다 -> 삶으로써 (By means of living - ㄹ + ㅁ = 삶)

Usage

This is a very formal, written expression used in essays, presentations, and speeches.

Examples

• 매일 운동을 함으로써 건강을 유지하고 있습니다. (By means of exercising every day, I am maintaining my health.)
• 서로 대화함으로써 오해를 풀 수 있었어요. (By talking with each other, we were able to resolve the misunderstanding.)
