Congratulations on reaching the very last lesson of Easy Korean Level 8! Our final grammar point is -(으)니만큼. It combines -(으)니까 (since/because) + 만큼 (as much as). It translates to "Since it is [A], it is only natural that [B]" or "Given the fact that [A], [B]."

Structure

Verb / Adjective Stem + -(으)니만큼

• 중요하다 -> 중요하니만큼 (Given that it is important...)
• 힘들다 -> 힘드니만큼 (Since it is hard...)
• 처음이다 -> 처음이니만큼 (Since it is the first time...)

Usage

It highlights the cause and emphasizes that the result or required action is completely justified and matching in scale.

Examples

• 이번 프로젝트는 아주 중요하니만큼 최선을 다해주세요. (Given that this project is very important, please do your absolute best.)
• 처음이니만큼 실수하는 게 당연해요. (Since it is the first time, it is natural to make mistakes.)
