Exercise 1: Identify the Ending

Look at the verb stem and choose the correct past tense ending. (Remember: ㅏ/ㅗ gets 았어요, anything else gets 었어요, 하다 gets 했어요).

  1. 놀 (to play) -> [ 았어요 / 었어요 / 했어요 ]
  2. 읽 (to read) -> [ 았어요 / 었어요 / 했어요 ]
  3. 공부하 (to study) -> [ 았어요 / 었어요 / 했어요 ]

Conjugate the following dictionary verbs into the past tense.

Exercise 3: Past vs Present

Translate the following English sentences into Korean. Pay close attention to whether the sentence is present or past tense!

Vocabulary: * 사과 (sa-gwa) = apple * 영화 (yeong-hwa) = movie * 공부하다 (gong-bu-ha-da) = to study

  1. I eat an apple. (Present)
  2. I ate an apple. (Past)
  3. I watched a movie. (Past)
