The meaning of this character is "To decide", "To resolve", or "To determine". Whenever you see "결" in a word related to choices, endings, or settling something, this is the root!

  16. 결석 (缺席) = absence (Wait, this uses a different '결' (缺) meaning "lack"! Beware of homophones! But '결석' is still a great word to know.)
