Unit 9: Counters (개, 명)

In English, we say "two cats" or "three apples." In Easy Korean, we need to use a counter word after the number.

The structure is: Noun + Number + Counter Always use Native Korean numbers (한, 두, 세, 네...) when counting items.

1. 개 (Items / Objects)

개 is the most common and general counter. You can use it for almost any inanimate object. - 사과 한 개 (One apple) - 펜 두 개 (Two pens) - 가방 세 개 (Three bags)

2. 명 (People)

명 is the counter used for counting people. - 친구 한 명 (One friend) - 학생 네 명 (Four students) - 사람 다섯 명 (Five people)

Examples

  • 사과 두 개 주세요. (Please give me two apples.)
  • 교실에 학생이 열 명 있어요. (There are ten students in the classroom.)
