-(으)로써)¶

These two particles look similar and sound identical, but they have completely different meanings in written Easy Korean!

1. -(으)로서 (As a...)¶

Used with people or status to indicate a role or position. - 부모 (parents) -> 부모로서 (As a parent) - 학생 -> 학생으로서 (As a student) - 학생으로서 열심히 공부해야 합니다. (As a student, you must study hard.)

2. -(으)로써 (By means of / Using)¶

Used with tools, methods, or materials to indicate how something is done. - 대화 (conversation) -> 대화로써 (By means of conversation) - 눈물 -> 눈물로써 (By means of tears) - 이 문제는 대화로써 해결해야 해요. (This problem must be solved through conversation.)

(Note: In everyday spoken Korean, people often just say -(으)로 for both!)
