Unit 12: Only (-만)

To say "only" in Easy Korean, you attach the particle -만 directly to a noun.

How to use -만

It's very easy! You just add -만 right after the noun. It doesn't matter if the noun ends in a consonant or a vowel.

  • 물 (water) -> 물만 (only water)
  • 저 (I/me) -> 저만 (only me)
  • 이것 (this one) -> 이것만 (only this one)

Important Rule

When you use -만, it usually replaces the subject particles (-은/는, -이/가) and the object particles (-을/를). - 저는 사과를 먹어요. (I eat an apple.) - 저는 사과만 먹어요. (I eat only apples.)

Examples

  • 우유만 마셔요. (I only drink milk.)
  • 오늘은 조금만 일해요. (Today I only work a little bit.)
  • 저만 한국어를 공부해요. (Only I study Korean.)
